Company Earns Placement on Built In’s Best U.S. Remote-First Companies to Work For and Best Places to Work in Boston
Vistaprint, the marketing and design partner to millions of small businesses, was honored in Built In’s 2021 Best Places to Work Awards. Specifically, Vistaprint earned a place as one of the best remote-first workplaces in the U.S. and on the Boston Best Places to Work list. The annual awards include companies of all sizes nationally, and in the eight largest U.S. tech markets.
“We are thrilled to be honored by Built In as one of the best remote-first companies to work for nationally,” said Paul McKinlay, Vice President of Communications and Remote Working at Vistaprint. “Our decision earlier this year to move to a permanent remote-first model raises the bar in many ways by creating an environment and culture in which team members can thrive and be more involved, productive and engaged. We now have access to a much wider talent pool. No longer defined by geography, we can focus the specific skills, qualities and diverse perspectives we want to attract to our teams around the world. For existing team members, the flexible way we now work enables each of us to be more productive in the places that we choose, while empowering us to be with our friends and families to take advantage of moments that would be missed while working 9-5 from an office.”
As part of the transition to a remote-first work environment, Vistaprint team members received a one-time stipend to help at-home workspace setup along with a remote work reimbursement program to assist with on-going expenses. Working parents within the Vistaprint team also receive distance learning support and reimbursement through care.com. Vistaprint has also increased its wellness offerings including expanded access to mental health resources such as Learn to Live and Headspace, as well as training programs for leaders to recognize and support mental health of team members.
Built In determines winners for Best Places to Work based on an algorithm using company data about compensation, benefits and cultural programs. To reflect the attributes candidates are searching for on Built In today, this year’s program weighted criteria around remote opportunities and programs for diversity, equity and inclusion more heavily. Vistaprint’s office-based team members began transitioning to a fully remote workforce in 2020 and have prioritized diversity, equity and inclusion as a company-wide initiative by creating a Transformation Office whose team is focused on supporting and investing in external resources to build a longer-term multi-year strategy.
Vistaprint’s CEO, Robert Keane, was also recently honored with Comparably’s Best CEOs award, listing him among the top CEOs according to employees.
“These companies raise the bar for cultural excellence and the ability to adapt to meet changing needs of employees,” says Sheridan Orr, Chief Marketing Officer, Built In. “The 2021 winners show a commitment not just to creating meaningful cultures but to delivering talent needs as they change in a dynamic landscape. We’re thrilled to extend our congratulations to the winners.”
Tech professionals rely on Built In’s Best Places to Work lists to discover employers that align with their preferences, passions and values. Since its inception three years ago, the award has expanded in reach, from online views of tens of thousands to just under 1 million views today.
